  • Met Office high resolution (2 second) radiosonde data from the Castor Bay airfield, Northern Island from 2002 to present. The data consist of vertical profiles of pressure, temperature, relative humidity, humidity mixing ratio, sonde position, wind speed and wind direction. Measurements are taken at 2 second intervals and the ascents extend to heights of approximately 20-30 km.

  • Met Office high resolution (2 second) radiosonde data from the Watnall station from 2000 to 2013. The data consist of vertical profiles of pressure, temperature, relative humidity, humidity mixing ratio, sonde position, wind speed and wind direction. Measurements are taken at 2 second intervals and the ascents extend to heights of approximately 20-30 km.

  • Met Office high resolution (2 second) radiosonde data from the Albemarle, Northumbria, from 2002 to present. The data consist of vertical profiles of pressure, temperature, relative humidity, humidity mixing ratio, sonde position, wind speed and wind direction. Measurements are taken at 2 second intervals and the ascents extend to heights of approximately 20-30 km.

  • Met Office high resolution (2 second) radiosonde data from the St Helena Bottoms Wood station from 1999 to present. The data consist of vertical profiles of pressure, temperature, relative humidity, humidity mixing ratio, sonde position, wind speed and wind direction. Measurements are taken at 2 second intervals and the ascents extend to heights of approximately 20-30 km.

  • Met Office high resolution (2 second) radiosonde data from the Aberporth airfield, Mid Wales from 1990 to present. The data consist of vertical profiles of pressure, temperature, relative humidity, humidity mixing ratio, sonde position, wind speed and wind direction. Measurements are taken at 2 second intervals and the ascents extend to heights of approximately 20-30 km. An ASCII formatted set of files are also available from 1990 to 2000 within this dataset.

  • A Vaisala Radian LAP3000 1290 MHz wind profiler has been permanently located at the Met Office's site at the Dunkeswell airfield near Honiton in East Devon, and has been operational since February 1999. This was one of two such profilers deployed in the UK at that time as part of the Met Office's UK "Operational Upper Air Network." Operating at 1290 Mhz, Dunkeswell, like the other sites, is configured to operate in two modes. The low mode provides high resolution wind information up to 2km above the surface, while the high mode, with 210m resolution can see up to 8km under appropriate conditions.. The site is located at 50.87 N, 3.23 W and a height of 253 m above mean sea-level and has a WMO id of 03840. It has a beam angle of 15.5 degrees and is operated with an averaging period of 30 minutes. This dataset contains vertical wind profiles from the Vaisala Radian LAP3000 1290MHz wind profiler located at Dunkeswell.

  • Met Office high resolution (2 second) radiosonde data from the Beaufort Park airfield, Bracknell from 1999. The data consist of vertical profiles of pressure, temperature, relative humidity, humidity mixing ratio, sonde position, wind speed and wind direction. Measurements are taken at 2 second intervals and the ascents extend to heights of approximately 20-30 km.

  • Met Office high resolution (2 second) radiosonde data from the Boulmer station, Northumbria, from 1992 to 2002. The data consist of vertical profiles of pressure, temperature, relative humidity, humidity mixing ratio, sonde position, wind speed and wind direction. Measurements are taken at 2 second intervals and the ascents extend to heights of approximately 20-30 km.

  • Data were collected by various stations around the globe, not covered by other datasets within this collection, and cover the period from 1900 until 2000. These data are the Met Office's 'old' Land Surface Observation data and have been superseded by the MIDAS dataset collection. This dataset remains for historic purposes only. The data contain measurements of hourly and daily meteorological values, such as rainfall, sunshine duration, temperature, and wind speed. The MIDAS dataset supersedes this dataset and new users should apply for access to that by following the on-screen instructions. If necessary, you will be able to access this historic dataset once you have been granted access to the MIDAS data. The dataset contains the measurements of the following parameters: Sunshine duration Snow depth Visibility Wind speed and wind direction Temperature Cloud type Past and present weather

  • Data from the Met Office's Cyclone Database, consisting of flat files from the database covering 2000-2005 with associated charts. The database holds lists of cyclones, their types and structural information about each cyclone and associated features as derived from analysis of the UK Met Office Unified Model.
