This dataset comprises information of location and cytotype of over 1300 samples of Campanula rotundifolia L. from the northern hemisphere (mostly from Britain and Ireland) and data from a common garden study in which British and Irish cytotypes were grown together and their flowering phenology and growth were assessed. Campanula rotundifolia L. is a widespread polyploid perennial herbaceous plant, with diploid, tetraploid, pentaploid and hexaploid cytotypes.   • This dataset contains a list of all known birds, bryophytes, fungi, invertebrates, lichens and mammals that use oak (Quercus petraea and Quercus robur) in the UK. In total 2300 species are listed in the dataset. For each species we provide a level of association with oak, ranging from obligate (only found on oak) to cosmopolitan (found on a wide range of other tree species). Data on the ecology of each oak associated species is provided: part of tree used, use made of tree (feeding, roosting, breeding), age of tree, woodland type, tree form (coppice, pollarded, or natural growth form) and season when the tree was used. Data on use or otherwise by each of the 2300 species of 30 other alternative tree species (Acer campestre, Acer pseudoplatanus, Alnus glutinosa, Betula pendula, Betula pubescens, Carpinus betulus, Castanea sativa, Fagus sylvatica, Fraxinus excelsior, Ilex aquifolium, Larix spp, Malus sylvestris, Picea abies, Pinus nigra ssp. laricio, Pinus sylvestris, Populus tremula, Prunus avium, Pseudotsuga menziesii, Quercus cerris, Quercus rubra, Sorbus aria, Sorbus aucuparia, Sorbus torminalis, Taxus baccata, Thuja plicata, Tilia cordata, Tilia platyphyllos, Tilia vulgaris, Tsuga heterophylla, Ulmus glabra) was also collated.   • The dataset contains a current inventory of vascular plant species and their attributes present in the flora of Britain and Ireland. The species list is based on the most recent key to the flora of Britain and Ireland, with taxon names linked to unique Kew taxon identifiers and the World Checklist of Vascular Plants, and includes both native and non-native species. Attribute data stem from a variety of sources to give an overview of the current state of the vascular flora. Attributes include functional traits, distribution and ecologically relevant data (e.g. genome size, chromosome numbers, spatial distribution, growth form, hybridization metrics and native/non-native status). The data include previously unpublished genome size measurements, chromosome counts and CSR life strategy assessments.   • This dataset contains records for vegetation in 49 plots across 14 fragmented forest sites and 4 continuous forest sites in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. Living vegetation and deadwood were surveyed in two or three 0.28-ha plots in each of the eighteen sites. In addition to vegetation data, the dataset contains topsoil parameters, measurements of forest structure, and metrics of the degree of forest fragmentation in the landscape surrounding the plots. These data were collected in order to conduct studies examining (1) the factors supporting invasion of exotic plant species into fragmented forest areas; and (2) the value of conservation set-asides for carbon storage and associated plant diversity in oil palm plantations.
