  • Analysis time parameters on a reduced N256 Gaussian grid from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECWMF) ERA-Interim programme. The ERA-Interim global atmospheric reanalysis of the covers 1979 to August 2019. This follows on from the ERA-15 and ERA-40 re-analysis projects. This subset of the ERA-Interim dataset contains 5 parameters on 60 model levels: specific humidity, ozone mass mixing ratio, cloud liquid and ice water content and cloud cover.

  • A global configuration of the Met Office Unified Model provides the most accurate short range deterministic forecast by any national meteorological service covering a six day period. With a resolution of approximately 0.234 x 0.153 degrees, it is able to produce selected hourly data covering the first 48 hours at surface level and at standard pressure levels twice a day. The model’s initial state is kept close to the real atmosphere using hybrid 4D-Var data assimilation. This dataset contains model data from the Met Office Unified Model (UM) operational Global Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) model. The archive currently holds data from April 2016 onwards but data will be back populated for earlier years.

  • A global configuration provides the large-scale weather forecast and also supports the nested higher resolution regional models with boundary data. More detailed short-range forecasts are provided by these high-resolution models which are able to represent certain atmospheric processes more accurately, as well as having a more detailed representation of surface features such as coastlines and orography. This dataset contains UK atmospheric high resolution data from the UK Met Office operational NWP (Numerical Weather Prediction) Unified Model (UM). A post processed regional downscaled configuration of the Unified Model, covering the UK and Ireland, is used with hourly forecast data covering the period T+0 to T+120 hours is used. With a resolution of approximately 0.018 degrees are able to produce hourly data at surface level and at standard pressure levels up to eight times a day. The model’s initial state is kept close to the real atmosphere using incremental 3D-Var data assimilation. This archive currently holds data from April 2016 onwards but data will be back populated for earlier years.

  • This dataset contains model data from the Met Office Unified Model (UM) operational Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) European high resolution model. This is a regional downscaled configuration of the Unified Model, covering a European domain, with hourly forecast data covering the period T+1 to T+54 hours. With a resolution of approximately 0.04 degrees it is able to produce selected hourly data covering the first 48 hours at surface level and at standard pressure levels four times a day. The model’s initial state is kept close to the real atmosphere by starting from a downscaled global starting condition. This archive currently holds data from April 2016 onwards but data will be back populated for earlier years.

  • Accumulated forecast parameters on a reduced N256 Gaussian grid from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECWMF) ERA-Interim programme. The ERA-Interim global atmospheric reanalysis of the covers 1979 to August 2019. This follows on from the ERA-15 and ERA-40 re-analysis projects. This subset of the ERA-Interim dataset contains 14 parameters on 60 model levels covering clear sky long and short wave radiation, up- and down-draft parameters, total precipitation, temperature and humidity tendencies, turbulent diffusion coefficient for heat, zonal and meridional wind tendencies.
