  • The Aerosol Direct Radiative Impact Experiment (ADRIEX) was a joint UK Met Office/Natural Environment Research Council (NERC)/UK Royal Society/University of Oslo project aiming at improving our understanding of the radiative effects of anthropogenic aerosol and gases (ozone and methane) in the troposphere. This dataset contains ECMWF Boundary layer model data from a ECMWF Computer.

This dataset contains ECMWF medium level cloud model from a ECMWF Computer.

This dataset contains ECMWF Convective precipitation model from a ECMWF Computer.

  • The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) Forecast Charts are images that display type and amount of cloud, and mean seal level pressure with 12 hour accumulated precipitation measurements. The measurements are taken worldwide. The charts in this dataset are from 1st of June 2005 until the 9th of September 2005.

  • An international long-term collaboration to study the climatic and environmental feedback mechanisms involved in the African monsoon, and in some of its consequences on society and human health. The programme, which started in 2004, has developed a network of ground-based observation stations over Sub-Saharan West Africa to measure heat flux and, for some stations, CO2 and H2O vapour fluxes. Files also include concomitant meteorological measurements (wind, temperature, pressure, humidity, rainfall) and soil physics parameters (soil temperature and moisture). The UK branch of AMMA makes use of several instruments provided by the UK Universities Facility for Atmospheric Measurement (UFAM) which are centred on the Niamey meso-site. The Facility for Airbourne Atmospheric Measurements (FAAM) aircraft was used during the July-August 2006 campaign. This dataset contains data on the boundary layer, convective precipitation, cloud fractions and temperature.

This dataset contains ECMWF Low level cloud model from a ECMWF Computer.

This dataset contains ECMWF High level cloud model from a ECMWF Computer.

  • Datasets of 5 day back trajectories have been computed on a routine basis using analyses from the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (ECMWF). The three components of the wind and surface pressure over three launch grids covering the UK, the mid-Atlantic storm track region and the eastern USA, plus back trajectories from field campaign instrument sites were used to output datasets consisting of latitude, longitude and pressure of the trajectory every 30 minutes. This dataset contains ECMWF trajectories model data for OP3.

  • The UK SOLAS Cape Verde Atmospheric Observatory (16.848N, 24.871W) exists to advance understanding of climatically significant interactions between the atmosphere and ocean and to provide a regional focal point and long-term data context for SOLAS field campaigns. The observatory is based on Calhau Island of São Vicente, Cape Verde in the tropical Eastern North Atlantic Ocean, a region which is data poor but plays a key role in atmosphere-ocean interactions of climate-related and biogeochemical parameters including greenhouse gases. It is an open-ocean site that is representative of a region likely to be sensitive to future climate change, and is minimally influenced by local effects and intermittent continental pollution. Measurements began at the site in October 2006 and are continuing to this day. Note that only observations for the period 2006-2009 were used in the context of the SOLAS project.
