  • This dataset includes spatially-explicit input, output and summary data from the use of dynamic global vegetation model, the Joint UK Land Environment Simulator (JULES V5.6). This includes the spatial extent of extant, current-secondary and potential- secondary forests, as well as both preindustrial (1900-1910) and recent (2005-2014) average O3 concentrations resampled at a spatial resolution of 1.25 deg latitude by 1.875 deg longitude. Output data includes the modelled impact of O3 on net-primary productivity (NPP) of tropical forests under current O3 concentrations as well as the cumulative impact on the global carbon cycle. This dataset was created to model predicted impacts of ozone (O3) on tropical forests across the globe between 1900 and 2015, and is supported by NERC PROJECT: NE/R001812/1 Ozone impacts on tropical vegetation; implications for forest productivity (Trop-Oz).   • This dataset contains measurements of ozone (O3) concentrations, and environmental conditions experienced by tropical tree species grown in a series of experiments using Open Top Chambers (OTC’s) conducted between July 2020 and November 2022 This also includes information on final biomass and leaf-level functional traits of experimental plants. The species studied include Brachichyton acerifolius, Carallia brachiate, Calophyllum inophyllum, Chionanthus ramiflorus, Darlingia darlingiana, Flindersia pimenteliana, Homalanthus novo-guineensis, Inga edulis, Syzygium gustavioides, and Theobroma cacao. Environmental variables recorded included air temperature, relative humidity and photosynthetically active radiation, alongside O3 concentrations in each of nine OTC’s. While harvested plants were analysed to determine total dry-biomass and biomass partitioning as well as leaf functional traits such as leaf mass per unit are, antioxidant capacity, total phenolic content and leaf nitrogen content. This dataset also contains the calculated phytotoxic O3 dose (POD) for each species calculated when employing the DO3SE model and parametrized function of stomatal conductance.   • The dataset contains records of Drosophila flies and associated parasitic wasps collected along two elevational (temperature) gradients from Australian rainforest site. The data is presented at the individual Drosophila pupae level. It describes patterns of parasitism levels from fourteen sites and the structure of quantitative food webs at six sites.   • This dataset contains measurements of plant biomass and leaf-level functional traits from sugarcane plants of four different genotypes that were grown under different ozone (O3) conditions in Open Top Chambers for approximately 90 days. It also contains the calculated phytotoxic ozone dose for each of the four genotypes, the O3 concentration measurements and the environmental conditions (air temperature, relative humidity, and photosynthetically active radiation). The four genotypes tested were: Saccharum officinarum L. cv. Badila, Saccharum spontaneum cv. Mandalay, Q240, and CTC4.   • [This dataset is embargoed until May 1, 2025]. This dataset contains measurements of soil pyrogenic carbon, ratio of %PyC to %Bulk Carbon and organic carbon, which were collected in a soil fertility gradient in the Amazon Basin. All samples were taken in old-growth forests. In total, 49 forest plots were sampled and analysed for PyC soil concentration, representing 395 soil samples.   • This dataset contains gridded model outputs of the predicted risk to C4 sugarcane production across south central Brazil for 2010-2014. The outputs are given as production in kg m-2 yr-1, percentage of control production (%) and production losses in kg yr-1 and Tg yr-1. The spatial resolution is 1.25 x 1.875 degrees. Three different levels of ozone susceptibility (low, moderate or high) and two distinct threshold values of phytotoxic ozone dose (0 and 2 nmol m-2 s-1) were considered.   • The dataset contains raw hemispherical photographs of canopy structure representative for 0.5 ha permanent plots (26) across Caatinga area in Brazil. The photographs were taken between March 2017 and August 2019, using a digital camera (NIKON D100) with a Sigma 4.5 mm F2.8 fisheye lens. When processed the photos provide a representative value of LAI (Leaf area index) for the plot. The dataset contains information on soil nutrients including pH, available phosphorus, total phosphorus, texture analysis in sand, clay and silt, and exchangeable Ca, Mg, K, Na. Soil pyrogenic carbon, including Total Organic Carbon (TOC) (%C_(Bulk)), pyrogenic carbon D13C (lower, median, and upper), pyrogenic carbon (Cpyc), Cpyc%/CBulk, organic carbon and soil bulk density and dry weight of roots. The datasets include information about the plot location and parameters of the locality. The data were collected between 2019 and 2022 from 27 forest monitoring plots (0.5 ha each) in five locations along an altitudinal (lowland, mid-elevation, and highland forests) and forest perturbation (low, medium, and high perturbation levels) gradient in Andean ecosystems in Colombia. The objective of this data collection was to determine the change in soil characteristics between the disturbance gradients. This information is important for understanding the drivers of variation in forest resilience and the impacts of disturbance on ecosystem functioning. This data set was obtained within the framework of the BioResilience project, a transdisciplinary investigation that seeks to understand the Resilience of forest ecosystems after the post-conflict period in Colombia.
