This dataset provides details about each time we observed two banded mongoose groups engaging in what ended up being lethal conflict at our field site (Mweya, Uganda) between 2000-2011. The dataset provides information about which group won the contest (measured by which group ran from the location of the fight), which individual died in the battle, whether that individual was in the losing or winning group, and the date. The purpose of this data was to estimate the proportion of mortalities which come from winning groups vs. losing groups. Datasets consists of the results of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) flow simulations for a section of the South Saskatchewan River, Canada. The aim of these CFD simulations was to investigate the effect of dunes on the depth-averaged and near-bed flow fields. Modelling was carried out using the open source CFD package OpenFOAM to solve the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations. The dataset consists of two files, one with simulation results for a river bed characterised by alluvial bedforms (dunes) and one for a smooth river bed without dunes. This work was part of NERC project NE/L00738X/1. Digital Surface Models (DSMs) were constructed using imagery obtained on four occasions (13th May 2015; 2nd Sept 2016; 8th June 2017; and 12th June 2017). These data contain bank strength measurements in a 100 km reach of the Solimões River from Sep/Oct 2022 recorded with a shear vane and a cohesion strength meter. In addition, processed satellite (Landsat) imagery from 1984-2021 was used to calculate erosional and depositional area in three 50-120 km long reaches in the Solimoes River presented here as shape-files. Processed Corona imagery 1967 for a 120 km long reach in the Solimoes River shows the banklines and bar outlines. A spreadsheet provides erosional and depositional area at 20-km sections along the 1,600km of the Solimoes River that were based on measuring floodplain width from a digital elevation model (FABDEM). Data were collected in 2017, to provide information on spatial patterns of dune migration rates and associated water flow characteristics, at locations on the South Saskatchewan River, Canada. Dune migration rates were measured using repeat aerial imagery. Bedform crests were digitised in individual images, and average dune migration rates were calculated from the mean migration distance between image pairs, divided by the time between image collection. Water depth and velocity data were collected using a Sontek M9 acoustic Doppler current profiler (aDcp) mounted on a small zodiac boat. The position of the aDcp was recorded using a RTK dGPS system. We present three new gridded bathymetric compilations of Sheldon Cove, Borgen Bay and Marian Cove. These bathymetry grids were compiled from EM122 multibeam swath bathymetry data acquired during three different cruises (RRS James Clark Ross JR17001, JR18003 and JR19002 cruises also known as NERC- ICEBERGS cruises) from 2017 to 2020. The data is available as grids of 5 m resolution in NetCDF and GeoTIFF formats using geographic coordinates on the WGS84 datum. This grid was compiled as part of the ICEBERGS (Impacts of deglaciation on bentic marine ecosystems in Antarctica) project. Funding was provided by the NERC grant NE/P003087/1.

Glacial geomorphological data from the Ellsworth Mountains, Weddell Sea embayment. Satellite imagery and aerial photography, ground truthing, surveying and GPS traverses were used for geomorphological mapping. Additional photographic and weathering data were used to complement the field work. The project resulted in one of the most detailed geomorphological studies of any part of the WAIS (West Antarctic Ice Sheet), as well as the most comprehensive coverage for cosmogenic isotope analysis.

200+ erratic and bedrock samples were collected for cosmogenic isotope analysis, as well as several depth profiles of tills. Samples were collected from 11 sites along a 350km transect stretching from Pirrit Hills in the south to the ridge between Mt Bentley and Mt Hubley in the north. Most sites were on the western (West Antarctic Ice Sheet) side of the range but includes Flowers Hills on the east side of the range, adjacent to the Rutford Ice Stream. Throughout, the emphasis was on taking samples to allow dating of any changes in ice altitude/extent.

Powders, solutions and residues related to erratic and bedrock samples collected in the Ellsworth Mountains during the 2005-2006 field season. For each of the rock samples analysed in the lab, a (variable) number of laboratory stages are created, including sawing and crushing residues, pure quartz separates, chemical solutions, and AMS (Accelerator Mass Spectrometry) targets.

Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) measurements of cosmogenic isotopes were made from erratic and bedrock samples collected in the Ellsworth Mountains, 2005-2006. Pressed AMS targets were analysed at SUERC (Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre) to yield exposure ages.

Ice sheet model runs based on the Glimmer thermo-mechanical ice sheet model. Glacial modelling was used to simulate former WAIS (West Antarctic Ice Sheet) dynamics (specifically grounding line and ice volume changes) in the Weddell Sea embayment, constrained by newly acquired field data (see related datasets).
