  • The data include daily soil temperature, ground temperature, and ambient temperature in Celsius and soil volumetric moisture in percent between 2019 and 2022, collected from 15 plots across Wytham Woods, near Oxford in southern England. These cover three different habitat types representing different levels of ash dieback: ash dominated and girdled, ash dominated, and non-ash dominated. Soil and ground microclimate (temperature and volumetric moisture) were recorded at 15-minute intervals, and averaged to daily resolution. The data contributed to a project on the ecological impact of ash dieback. Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/f1fd1790-0cc0-45ea-8dda-8258d23e88b1

  • Microclimate data collected hourly at Anchorage Island, for 15 climatic variables via automatic data loggers, from 2001-2009. Data is not available across the entire temporal range for all variables. NERC funded under the British Antarctic Survey National Capability programme, Polar Science for Planet Earth.

  • Microclimate data collected hourly at Jane Col, for 12 climatic variables via automatic data loggers, 2007-2016. Data is not available across the entire temporal range for all variables. NERC funded under the British Antarctic Survey National Capability programme, Polar Science for Planet Earth. **Please be advised to use Version 2.0 Data** Version 2.0 (see 'Related Data Set Metadata' link below) has undergone quality control and includes flags for potential outliers in data.

  • Microclimate data collected hourly at Mars Oasis, for 13 climatic variables via automatic data loggers, from 2000-2019. Data is not available across the entire temporal range for all variables. NERC funded under the British Antarctic Survey National Capability programme, Polar Science for Planet Earth.

  • Microclimate data reported hourly from 2017-2024 on the Backslope behind the British base at Signy Island, South Orkney Islands. Data comprises 15 climatic variables via an automatic data logger and is a continuation of a previous dataset from a logger at Jane Col on Signy Island. Data are not available for the entire temporal range for all variables. Data are collected as part of long-term monitoring of microclimate across the Southern Ocean. This dataset is supported by NERC funding under the British Antarctic Survey National Capability Programme, Polar Science for Planet Earth

  • Microclimate data collected hourly at Coal Nunatak, for 10 climatic variables via automatic data loggers, 2006-2019. Data is not available across the entire temporal range for all variables. NERC funded under the British Antarctic Survey National Capability programme, Polar Science for Planet Earth. **Please be advised to use Version 2.0 of this dataset, which has undergone additional quality control, found here: https://data.bas.ac.uk/metadata.php?id=GB/NERC/BAS/PDC/01598**

  • Temperatures recorded 5cm above the forest floor in a gridded design (1 to 13m distance) within three, 1 hectare forest plots in Sabah, Borneo. The dataset also includes air temperature data from a nearby weather station at the same temporal resolution, and spatially-interpolated measurements of topography and canopy structure in each forest plot at a 1m resolution. iButton temperature measurement 5cm above the forest floor in gridded design (1-13m distance) within three 1-ha forest plots in Sabah, Borneo. Measurements were taken at 20 minute intervals over one continuous month (November 2015). Dataset also includes nearby weather station air temperature data at identical temporal resolution, as well as spatially-interpolated (1-m) measurements of topography and canopy structure in each forest plot. Output of BALI project (NERC funded Human-modified Tropical Forest Programme). Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/17501db1-7a2b-4f4b-8965-f309d2d1c557

This is an updated version of this dataset. There have been changes to the quality control carried out in the updated data.

  • The data set contains vertical profiles of diffuse light transmittance measured within six forest plots in montane Atlantic forest, São Paulo state, Brazil. The plots measured include intact, previously logged and secondary forest in a large continuous forest block of the Serra do Mar State Park (Parque Estadual de Serra do Mar), and two forest fragments outside the park. In each plot 10 - 12 individual light profiles were recorded; the data set contains these individual profiles and averages profiles for each plot based on both height above the ground and depth below the canopy. Each profile was measured only once. Data was collected March - November 2015 as part of the NERC Human modified Tropical Forest Programme.
