The data set shows the modelled change of soil organic carbon under different managements in agriculture for different climate scenarios globally. Dataset includes the change to a business as usual scenario for different soil managements for each decade from 2030 to 2100. The work was supported by the Natural Environment Research Council (NE/P019455/1) Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/fbb03aba-ad1c-438a-a3b3-2a99bc1baaf8

This data resource contains soil physico-chemical data from eight agricultural sites across the UK sampled during September 2022 and October 2022. For all sites, the data resource presents results for a range of soil characteristics including, pH, soil moisture, stone content, bulk density, organic matter content, soil texture, and total carbon and nitrogen content. Thermo-Gravimetric Analyses (TGA) was performed at one site due to atypically high values for total carbon content. The soil samples were collected using a Split tube sampler. The soil samples were processed at UKCEH laboratories from September 2022 through to August 2023. Sample collection and analysis was performed by project staff. The samples were taken to provide soil baseline data at the eight sites before the planting of perennial biomass crops. The project was funded by the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (formally the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS)) (Client reference - CEH-303). This dataset contains soil microbial carbon cycling parameters (growth, respiration, carbon use efficiency) using O18-incorporation into DNA method, microbial biomass by fumigation-extraction), bacterial and fungal necromass concentrations (by amino sugars), soil chemical properties (nutrients, pH), and soil extracellular enzyme activities and climate properties for two experimental soil systems. All measurements are made across two experimental systems over a 3.4 km elevation gradient in the Peruvian Andes (Manu National Park). The first system includes measurements for 14 x 1 ha permanent sampling plots situated across the 3.4 km elevation gradient. The second system includes measurements for a soil translocation experiment where soil cores were translocated reciprocally across 4 sites spanning the gradient; representing a temperature manipulation experiment. The measurements were collected after 11 years of temperature manipulation, in 2020-2021. This dataset was created to understand how temperature affects microbial carbon cycling process in soils, across two different time-frames (long-term vs 11-years of climate perturbation). This dataset contains soil biogeochemical data collected along gradients of windthrow disturbance in Kielder Forest, Northumberland, England, in summer 2022 as part of the Monitoring Underground Disturbance (MUD) BioBank. We established ~200 m transects at 10 sites (defined by common stand type, topography) and established 50m2 sampling plots in three different disturbance regimes across each transect. Soils were analysed for moisture content, organic carbon and nitrogen, and root biomass. Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/7811769d-3e11-4b79-b781-765ca9cfd83e

This dataset contains biodiversity data focussing on invertebrates (soil, ground, tree canopy), and plants collected from The Carbon Community woodland creation experiment in Wales. This includes measurements from 72 plots, covering experimental treatment combinations of woodland type (native broadleaf vs sitka spruce), enhanced weathering (with/without basalt addition), and soil microbiome inoculation (with/without soil from mature habitat type), compared to a grassland control treatment. The experiment was established in April 2021 and aims to assess strategies for maximising woodland carbon storage. The biodiversity data from each experimental plot was collected in summer 2023. The dataset contains concentrations of total soil organic carbon, soil carbon fractions, soil CO2 fluxes, soil temperature and moisture in the Peruvian Andes. Measurements and sampling took place between 2010 and 2013. Data were generated as part of a larger NERC project: 'Are tropical uplands regional hotspots for methane and nitrous oxide' Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/3813aef3-71cc-49e6-ba21-495a43363001
