This dataset contains information about temperature response curves of ACi (i.e., CO2 response curves of net photosynthesis) that were collected on Colombian Andean forests tree species that were planted in three, common-garden tree plantations along a 2000m altitudinal gradient. Specifically, individuals of cold- and warm-affiliated species were planted under common soil and water conditions, exposing them to the hot and cold extremes of their thermal niches, respectively. The dataset contains: (i) estimates of zinc tolerance for 50 populations of Silene uniflora in the UK and Ireland generated between 03/2021 and 09/2021. The data were collected using cuttings from wild collected specimens. Root growth of cuttings in zinc rich media was assessed using deep water culture experiments. The data set contains the zinc tolerance (mean and standard deviations of root growth scores) and the number of cuttings assessed for each population; (ii) GPS positions describing the locations of 56 populations of Silene uniflora in the UK and Ireland which were observed between 2018 and 2021. Basic habitat type (montane, serpentine, mine, coastal) information is also included. The work was supported by the Natural Environment Research Council NE/R001081/1. The dataset provides meteorological data including air temperature, humidity, solar radiation, and wind speed collected above the canopy at Bobiri Forest Reserve, Ghana between November 2022 and November 2023. Data is at high temporal resolution (10 second). This site is a moist semi-deciduous tropical forest type. The data were collected from a 60m tower adjacent to a plot which was lightly selectively logged over 60 years ago. The forest trees are of a variety of species including both deciduous and evergreen species. Data were collected in order to provide auxiliary data for other studies completed at the site. The dataset provides image data from a visible light camera positioned on a tower at Bobiri Forest Reserve, Ghana between November 2022 and November 2023. The images are predominately made up of tree canopies (leaves, branches, stems). This site is a moist semi-deciduous tropical forest. The field of view of the camera includes a plot, which was lightly selectively logged over 60 years ago. The trees included in the field of view are of a variety of species including both deciduous and evergreen species. Data were collected to complement additional data on canopy temperature at the same site but can also be used to look at vegetation phenology. The variable recorded is surface temperature, predominately of tree canopies (leaves, branches, stems). This site is a moist semi-deciduous tropical forest. The field of view of the camera includes a plot which was lightly selectively logged over 60 years ago. The trees included in the field of view are of a variety of species including both deciduous and evergreen species. Data were collected in order to assess the differences between species in their canopy temperature and for greater understanding of plant temperature regulation. This is a physiological dataset for the Southern Patagonian limpet, Nacella deaurata. The limpets were collected from 2-6m depth in the Straits of Magellan near to Punta Arenas (53.164 S, 70.917 W) between Nov and the end of Jan 2018-19. A 2 month feeding experiment maintained N. deaurata at 1,4,8,11 and 14 degree Celsius for 2 months. Ingestion rate, absorption efficiency, absorption rate, oxygen consumption (uptake), scope for growth and mortality were measured. The thermal reaction norm for duration tenacity of field fresh subtidal and intertidal limpets, as well as subtidal limpets that were incubated at 8 degree Celsius for 2 months was investigated. The thermal reaction norm of radula scraping rates of field fresh limpets was measured. This work was funded by the Center FONDAP-IDEAL 15150003, ANID Chile and NERC core funding to the British Antarctic Survey.

This study investigated the status of dark septate (DS) fungi in Antarctic plant and soil communities, with the aim of determining the abundance of DS fungi in plant roots and rhizoids, their taxonomic affinities and their symbiotic status. Abundances of fungal hyphae were recorded in roots and rhizoids, and fungi were isolated and identified. Sequencing of ITS (internal transcribed spacer) regions of rDNA indicated that some isolates share taxonomic affinities with fungi of known symbiotic status. Synthesis experiments assessed the effects of DS fungal isolates, including H. ericae, on the growth and nutrient balance of their host plants. Seeds of Deschampsia antarctica and Colobanthus quitensis were collected for use in ecophysiological experiments.
