  • Spot heights of Signy Island, derived using stereoscopic photogrammetry from VHR (very high resolution) In-Track stereo satellite imagery collected during March 2015. The spot heights were created to support the updated release of the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) Signy Island map (BAS, 2024) and represent a series of points containing x, y and z values of high points and peaks. The dataset is available as a 3D point shapefile and a GeoPackage. WorldView-3 satellite images (c) 2015 Maxar Technologies.

  • The geology underlying Thwaites Glacier plays a critical role in mediating ice flow in this region yet is extremely poorly known. Using new compilations of airborne radar, magnetic and gravity data, supported by published geological evidence, we have interpreted the subglacial geology of the Thwaites Glacier region. Here we provide the new data compilations, results of 3D inversions and vector components defining the lithological units on our new geological sketch map.   • Point data measurements of ice surface, ice base and lake bed elevation are given from Subglacial Lake Ellsworth (SLE), West Antarctica. The data were acquired during the austral summer of 2007-2008. Five seismic reflection lines were acquired over SLE, with surface elevation determined by dual frequency GPS. Funding was provided by NERC AFI, award numbers NE/D009200/1, NE/D008638/1 and NE/D008751/1. Logistics support: British Antarctic Survey.   • This dataset contains bed, surface elevation and ice thickness measurements from the Recovery/Slessor/Bailey Region, East Antarctica. Radar data was collected using the 150MHz PASIN radar echo sounding system (Corr et al., 2007) deployed on a British Antarctic Survey (BAS) Twin Otter during the ICEGRAV-2013 airborne geophysics campaign (Forsberg et al., 2018). Data is identified by flight and are available in both Geosoft database (.gdb) and ASCII file formats (.xyz).

  • This record consists of 5 different datasets covering the Alexander Island region of Antarctica: coastline (including grounding line and ice shelf fronts), contours, spot heights, rock outcrop and lakes. The data have been produced for a new topographic map of Alexander Island at 1:500,000 scale, produced by the Mapping and Geographic Information Centre, British Antarctic Survey. The data are suitable for a 1:500,000 scale map but may be suitable for larger scales in certain areas. They have been created from source data ranging from 2022 - 2025. The data primarily cover Alexander Island, and also cover Rothschild, Charcot and Latady islands, as well as Wilkins and George VI ice shelves, and the Rymill Coast section of Palmer Land on the Antarctic Peninsula. The datasets were created using a mixture of GIS software, primarily digitised from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery or extracted from high resolution, published elevation models.   • This record consists of 3 different datasets covering the Adelaide Island and Arrowsmith Peninsula region of Antarctica: contours, spot heights, and lakes. The data have been produced for an updated version of the 'Adelaide Island and Arrowsmith Peninsula' 1:250,000 scale map, produced by the Mapping and Geographic Information Centre, British Antarctic Survey. The data are suitable for a 1:250,000 scale map but may be suitable for larger scales in certain areas. They have been created from source data ranging from 2022 - 2025. The datasets were created using a mixture of GIS software, primarily extracted from high resolution published elevation models, and digitised from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. Exact details of each dataset can be found in the lineage statement. The data is useful for cartographers as well as scientists interested in the mapping of this region.
