  • [This dataset is embargoed until June 1, 2022]. This dataset contains half-hourly output data (for the year 2011) generated by a preliminary version of the Shrubland Ecosystem Assessment (SEcA) model. SEcA calculates the ecosystem processes for a semi-arid shrubland system, for this dataset the model has been configured for a Caatinga ecosystem. The model generates 4 output files, those generating the aerodynamic and surface resistances, state variables, energy balance fluxes, and carbon flux-related outputs. The data provided here relate to model runs with the JULES Farquhar model, with the Sinclair plant water stress switched on. This work was funded by Newton/NERC/FAPESP Nordeste project: NE/N012488/1.   • Data package consists of Nordeste Brazilian Caatinga Long-term Inventory plots for tree and shrub basal area and species identification in 45 x 0.5 ha permanent sample plots. With subsampling of small shrubs and seedlings and physical samples collected. Dataset provided is the species list with metadata (voucher name and number) per plot.   • This dataset contains 3D Lidar scans representative for 0.5 ha permanent sample plots at Caatinga, Brazil. Two plots were located in Serra das Almas Reserve (SDA) and one plot in Petrolina (PET). The dataset also includes scans completed inside and outside for 10 individual trees. Scans were taken between July 2017 and May 2019.   • The dataset contains raw hemispherical photographs of canopy structure representative for 0.5 ha permanent plots (26) across Caatinga area in Brazil. The photographs were taken between March 2017 and August 2019, using a digital camera (NIKON D100) with a Sigma 4.5 mm F2.8 fisheye lens. When processed the photos provide a representative value of LAI (Leaf area index) for the plot.
