Diffusion of water in silicate melts (NERC grant NE/N002954/1)
Water concentration as a function of position in silicates from diffusion couple experiments. Data can be used to determine diffusivity of water in the silicate melt. Also numerical model for analysis of dataset and associated user guide.

- Statement
- Samples of hydrated silicate glass are placed in contact and heated for a known period. After quenching, water concentration is determined as a function of position along the axis perpendicular to the interface between the two samples, using fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.
