  • This dataset consists of the 1km raster, dominant target class version of the Land Cover Map 1990 (LCM1990) for Great Britain. The 1km dominant coverage product is based on the 1km percentage product and reports the habitat class with the highest percentage cover for each 1km pixel. The 21 target classes are based on the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) Broad Habitats, which encompass the entire range of UK habitats. This dataset is derived from the vector version of the Land Cover Map, which contains individual parcels of land cover and is the highest available spatial resolution. LCM1990 is a land cover map of the UK which was produced at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology by classifying satellite images (mainly from 1989 and 1990) into 21 Broad Habitat-based classes. It is the first in a series of land cover maps for the UK, which also includes maps for 2000, 2007, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019. LCM1990 consists of a range of raster and vector products and users should familiarise themselves with the full range (see related records, the UKCEH web site and the LCM1990 Dataset documentation) to select the product most suited to their needs. This work was supported by the Natural Environment Research Council award number NE/R016429/1 as part of the UK-SCAPE programme delivering National Capability. • This dataset consists of the 25m raster, Land Cover Change 1990 - 2015 product for Northern Ireland. The dataset is produced from the Land Cover Map (LCM) 25m raster versions of LCM1990 and LCM2015 and reports Land Cover Change between 1990 and 2015 in six simplified classes. The product consists of five bands: Band 1 – a raster version of LCM1990 in the six simplified classes; Band 2 – a raster version of LCM2015 in the six simplified classes; Band 3 – a binary layer, where 0 means no change between 1990 and 2015 and 1 means change between 1990 and 2015; Band 4 – shows the 'change from' class; Band 5 – provides the 'change to' class. Full details of the Land Cover Change dataset are provided in the Land Cover Change dataset documentation, which users should consult. This work was supported by the Natural Environment Research Council award number NE/R016429/1 as part of the UK-SCAPE programme delivering National Capability. • The data consist of woody biomass maps of three study areas - Mabalane, Gurue, and Maruppa in Mozambique. Each area map comprises three Geotiff layers stacked in the order band 1= 2007, band 2 = 2010, band 3 = 2014. Each pixel is an aboveground woody biomass in tonnes of carbon per hectare (ha). For the biomass maps -18.00000 means no data. Due to noise, it is possible to have negative biomass estimates. Individual layers can extracted for year specific analyses. Data were collected as part of the Abrupt Changes in Ecosystem Services and Wellbeing in Mozambican Woodlands (ACES) project under the ESPA programme Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/6a8b07f9-552e-408c-8351-595ee6a7fc5f

  • This dataset consists of the 1km raster, percentage aggregate class version of the Land Cover Map 1990 (LCM1990) for Great Britain. The 1km percentage product provides the percentage cover for each of 10 aggregated land cover classes for 1km x 1km pixels. This product contains one band per aggregated habitat class (producing a 10 band image). The 10 aggregate classes are groupings of the 21 target classes, which are based on the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) Broad Habitats, which encompass the entire range of UK habitats. The aggregate classes group some of the more specialised classes into more general categories. For example, the five coastal classes in the target class are grouped into a single aggregate coastal class. • [THIS DATASET HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN]. Land Cover Map 2007 (LCM2007) is a parcel-based thematic classification of satellite image data covering the entire United Kingdom. The map updates and upgrades the Land Cover Map of Great Britain (LCMGB) 1990 and LCM2000. Like the earlier 1990 and 2000 products, LCM2007 is derived from a computer classification of satellite scenes obtained mainly from Landsat, IRS and SPOT sensors. It also covers Northern Ireland and incorporates information derived from other ancillary datasets. LCM2007 was classified using a nomenclature corresponding to Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) Broad Habitats, which encompasses the entire range of UK habitats. In addition, it recorded further detail where possible, incorporating land cover classes sought by other users. LCM2007 is produced in both vector and raster formats, with a number of different versions containing varying levels of detail and at different spatial resolutions. This dataset consists of the 1km raster, percentage Aggregate Class. Great Britain only. Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/3f3fa303-d019-4b28-ad79-9a45f8ee04d0

  • This dataset contains river (fluvial) and surface water (pluvial) flooding maps for the central highlands of Vietnam and surrounding provinces. Flood depth is estimated at 30m horizontal grid spacing for 10 return periods, ranging from the 1 in 5 year to the 1 in 1000 year return period flood. These maps are of relevance to planners and policy makers to estimate which areas of most at risk of flooding and can contribute towards policy such as the sustainable development goals. • This dataset presents predicted soil erosion rates (t ha-1 yr-1) and its impact on topsoils, including lifespans (yr) assuming erosion rates remain constant and there is no replacement of soil; flux rates of soil organic carbon via erosion (t SOC ha-1 yr-1); flux rates of soil nitrogen via erosion (t N ha-1 yr-1); and flux rates of soil phosphorous via erosion (t P ha-1 yr-1). The dataset comes in the form of three multi-band raster GeoTiff files, structured as follows: LC16_Results.tif: Model predictions generated under the 2016 Copernicus Land Cover Map at 30-metre resolution (five bands) Mitigation_scenarios.tif: Predicted reductions in erosion rates in the event of implementing mitigation scenarios described in sixteen different scenarios (sixteen bands). PNV_Results.tif: Same structure as LC16_Results.tif, but stores predictions generated under the Potential Natural Vegetation cover map for East Africa at 30-metre resolution (five bands) Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/86d07d98-2956-4395-8b02-29dd5d98e6be

  • Data provided are monthly surface water layers extracted from Sentinel1A SAR data for 3 districts in India (Shivamogga, Sindhudurg, Wayanad) for the year 2017 and 2018. Surface water body layers were mapped using an average monthly threshold value extracted from the image backscatter histogram. The average threshold value excluded the monsoon months due to the difference in water and not water area. The threshold value was slightly lesser than the mean threshold value. The end product was validated using field data which resulted in user and producer accuracies. Monthly surface water body layers were not produced for a few months due to the non-availability of Sentinel 1 data. The work was supported by MRC, AHRC, BBSRC, ESRC and NERC [grant number MR/P024335/1] and NERC - SUNRISE project [grant number NE/R000131/1] Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/3c23fea1-5b27-4b01-b9ef-fc13346cfedc
