This is a vector data set representing the land surface of Northern Ireland, classified into 21 UKCEH land cover classes, based upon Biodiversity Action Plan broad habitats. This vector Land Parcel dataset is the result of intersecting the 10m raster classified pixel dataset with the UKCEH Land Parcel Spatial Framework to generate summary land parcel attributes for each land cover parcel. A full description of this and all UKCEH LCM2024 products are available from the LCM2024 product documentation. Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/99ecdc84-5313-48c2-9fad-6a5e8ad3953e

This is a 10m pixel data set representing the land surface of Northern Ireland, classified into 21 UKCEH land cover classes, based upon Biodiversity Action Plan broad habitats. It is a two-band raster in GeoTiff format. The first band gives the most likely land cover type; the second band gives the per-parcel probability of the land cover. A full description of this and all UKCEH LCM2024 products are available from the LCM2024 product documentation. This dataset includes sediment trap diatom captures and water column temperature profiles from a PhD research project at Rostherne Mere in Cheshire. These data were collected to show the relationship between climate, especially short-term climatic perturbations, and diatom assemblages. The sediment trap data cover the period from October 2004 to January 2017, while the thermal profiles cover October 2005 to December 2016. Diatom data is presented with date, percentage taxa abundance and diatom fluxes based on total sediment yield. Temperature profiles are presented as mean daily figures. The work was carried out as part of a Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) funded PhD [grant number NE/L002493/1], with the temperature data funded by the UKLEON (UK Lake Ecological Observatory Network) project via a NERC small grant [grant number NE/I007261/1]. A set of data arising from a detailed ecological re-survey of the native Scots Pine woodland habitats within Scotland. In all, 27 woods from throughout Scotland were identified as the major remaining native pinewoods, and within each wood sixteen randomly selected 200m2 plots were surveyed between 2018 and 2022. Details about the trees, ground flora, soil, habitat types as well as general plot information were collected for each plot using standardized procedures and coding systems. The survey was a repeat of an identical survey carried out in 1971, and thus allows an assessment of change in the woodlands since that time. The survey was funded by a consortium led by the Woodland Trust, and carried out by staff employed by the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology. This dataset contains time series observations of surface-atmosphere exchanges of net ecosystem carbon dioxide exchange (NEE), sensible heat (H) and latent heat (LE), and momentum (τ) measured at a short rotation coppice willow plantation in Lincolnshire, UK. Turbulent flux densities were monitored using the micrometeorological eddy covariance (EC) technique between 13th October 2009 and 15th May 2013. The dataset includes ancillary weather and soil physics observations, as well as variables describing atmospheric turbulence and the quality of the turbulent flux observations. This work was supported by the Natural Environment Research Council award number NE/R016429/1 as part of the UK-SCAPE programme delivering National Capability. The dataset contains monthly measurements of chlorophyll fluorescence measured using a Walz MINI-PAM II. The chlorophyll flouresence of growing tips of moss samples were measured following saturating pulses three times in the field before dark adaptation three further measurements. Yield of photosystem II, non-photochemical quenching and electron transport rate were calculated. Field work was carried out approximately monthly from April 2017 until September 2018. Data provided are monthly surface water layers extracted from Sentinel1A SAR data for 3 districts in India (Shivamogga, Sindhudurg, Wayanad) for the year 2017 and 2018. Surface water body layers were mapped using an average monthly threshold value extracted from the image backscatter histogram. The average threshold value excluded the monsoon months due to the difference in water and not water area. The threshold value was slightly lesser than the mean threshold value. The end product was validated using field data which resulted in user and producer accuracies. Monthly surface water body layers were not produced for a few months due to the non-availability of Sentinel 1 data. The work was supported by MRC, AHRC, BBSRC, ESRC and NERC [grant number MR/P024335/1] and NERC - SUNRISE project [grant number NE/R000131/1] Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/3c23fea1-5b27-4b01-b9ef-fc13346cfedc

[This dataset is embargoed until May 31, 2026]. This dataset includes a range of physico-chemical properties measured from topsoil (0-15 cm) within a wide range of land use types across Wales, collected as part of the Environment and Rural Affairs Monitoring & Modelling Programme (ERAMMP) between 2021 and 2023. The properties included are: soil organic matter (loss on ignition (LOI)), derived carbon concentration, total soil organic carbon (SOC), nitrogen, total soil phosphorous, Olsen-phosphorous (within improved land only), pH, electrical conductivity, soil bulk density of fine earth, fine earth volumetric water content, gravimetric water content, and soil group. ERAMMP is a resurvey of the 300 locations from the initial monitoring program (300 1km squares) on a rolling annual basis, with the aim to resurvey all sites between 2021 and 2025. Between 2021-2023, ERAMMP resurveyed 224 of those 300 were resurveyed for soil monitoring. The GMEP project was set up by the Welsh Government in 2013 to monitor the effects of the Glastir agri-environment scheme on the environment and ran from 2013 to 2016. The field survey element was based on a stratified random sampling design of 300 x 1km square sites across Wales and was managed by the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH). This dataset contains GPS data fixes (WGS84 format) from 32 European nightjars (Caprimulgus europaeus) . The data contains additional information on identity of the bird, date, time of fix acquisition, and the associated site and night number (between 6 and 17 nights of data, varying between individuals). These data were collected on the Humberhead peatlands NNR, South Yorkshire, from 2015 until 2018. Birds were caught in mist nets and tail-mounted miniaturised GPS tags (Pathtrack, Otley, UK; <3% bird bodyweight) were fitted by BTO-licensed researchers. Data were collected as part of a NERC ACCE-funded PhD. Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/aa20f8c4-bbdb-4dfa-82b4-b9b3fd8f34eb
