This sampling survey has been carried out by Institute of Geological Sciences now British Geological Survey (BGS) for BGS, the survey took place in September 1975 in Mersey estuary on board a Sealand hovercraft. The purpose was to carry out marine sampling work in conjunction with the IGS Applied Geophysics Unit gravity survey. Sea-bed samples were collected by beach sampling methods and photography. These data are archived by BGS. No BGS survey report currently available, IGS 1975 annual report contains summary.

This British Geological Survey (BGS) marine sampling survey took place in July 1968 in the Forth Approaches on board a 50ft fishing boat MV Girl Anne III. The work was of an experimental nature partly designed to evaluate equipment and technique. The purpose was to obtain data for regional geology mapping. Sea-bed samples were collected using a shipek grab. Sediment cores were collected using a gravity corer. These data are archived by BGS. Technical details of the survey are contained in IGS report 70/1.

This Institute of Geological Sciences (IGS) now British Geological Survey (BGS) marine sampling survey took place during 1969 in the Humber Estuary. Beach and tidal areas were accessed either on foot or by inflatible boat. The purpose was to obtain data for regional geology mapping. The four boreholes drilled were logged by BGS Conitinental Shelf Unit 1 in conjuction with the Yorkshire and East Midlands Unit. Sea-bed samples were collected by hand and drilling boreholes. These data are archived by BGS. Summary details of the survey are contained in IGS annual report 1969.

This marine drilling survey took place from October to November 1994 in the Celtic and Irish Seas using th M/S Bucentaur. A shallow drlling consortium comprising BGS, five oil companies and three partners was formed and the purpose was to enhance the geological knowledge in the area. Six boreholes were drilled and these data are archived by BGS. Technical details of the survey are contained in BGS Technical Report WB/89/39C.
