UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) Sampling Survey 1970/14: Southern Approaches to Sea of the Hebrides (19/Sep/1970 to 14/Oct/1970)

This sampling survey has been carried out by the Hydrographic Department of the Ministry of Defence, the survey took place from September to October 1970 in the Sea of the Hebrides on board HMS Hecla. They provided sample material to the Institiute of Geological Sciences (now BGS) who provided a geological determination. These data are archived by BGS. No BGS survey report currently available.

Sample equipment types used included: Dredge: Sediment or Shell, Grab, Grab: Shipek and Underway Sediment Sampler. The survey was undertaken by UK Hydrographic Office. For more detailed information on the acquisition equipment and data collection techniques, operational standards, data processing methods and quality control procedures used on this survey see the Report of Survey/Cruise Report and associated documentation where available. The information available may vary depending on the age of the survey. Data are checked and loaded to the BGS Coastal and Marine data management system following BGS marine data management procedures.
