Time-lapse gravity data Corbetti caldera (Ethiopia): 2014/16 (NERC grant NE/L013932/1)

The RiftVolc microgravity network was comprised of a total of 4 benchmarks including a reference benchmark. Benchmark locations, observed gravity changes, dg14 -16, from 2014-2016, corresponding vertical deformation, Uz, free-air effect, and resultant residual gravity changes gr of the microgravity and GNSS network at Corbetti.

Statement
Gravimetric data were collected in late September/early October of 2014, 2015 and 2016 using a Scintrex CG-5 gravimeter (serial no. 572) at three benchmarks and related to a reference (CBAS) located outside the area of interest. Benchmark occupations followed a strict protocol whereby several repeat measurements were conducted as part of a survey loop, which started and ended at the reference. At least 5 cycles of 45 second-long readings at 6Hz were performed at each benchmark and the number of cycles was adjusted appropriate to the required data precision of < 2µGal. Benchmarks were visited between 3 and 6 times per survey resulting in data repeatability of between 1 and 7µGal at individual benchmarks. Raw gravity data were reduced for tidal effects of both Earth and ocean components using the Wahr-Dehant and GOT99.2 latitude-dependent models, respectively.
