- Statement
- The heat flow version 1 is an interpolated model from 212 heat flow measurements (augmented by 504 heat flow estimates) previously published by BGS. Estimations of temperatures with depth were made from the heat flow values contained the BGS Geothermal catalogue (version 1). The heat flow data set was created in ESRI’s Arcview GIS, using the spatial analyst extension to interpolate the input data (via an Inverse Distance-Weighted model). The raster grid is based on a 2km x/y dimension (originally using a British National Grid projection). The raster grid was converted to a vector cellular grids using ESRI’s ArcPro3.2 GIS. The square vector cell mimics the 2km x/y/ dimensions of the original raster (and retains the British National Grid projection). The hexagonal vector cell has side length of 1km (and retains the British National Grid projection). All versions of the data are provided with a WGS84 projection (which will affect the reported area of the cells).
