Marine Environmental Data and Information Network (MEDIN) data portal
The British Geological Survey (BGS) is the MEDIN Data Archive Centre (DAC) for geology and geophysics. BGS hold metadata for the oil and gas site surveys, including a spatial index of the data available. These metadata are available through the MEDIN Portal.

British Geological Survey GeoIndex (Offshore)
The BGS GeoIndex (Offshore) is an online spatial index which shows the range of marine geoscience data held by BGS. The GeoIndex (Offshore) includes a layer which shows the metadata that BGS hold for oil and gas site surveys.

BGS OGC API endpoint: Offshore Oil & Gas Industry Site Surveys
This service provides an application programming interface (API) for data scientists, software developers and software applications to query and download a selection of BGS open data in machine-readable JSON format using the OGC API standards defined by the Open Geospatial Consortium (https://ogcapi.ogc.org/).

British Geological Survey GeoIndex (Offshore) Web Map Service (WMS)
Some GeoIndex datasets have been made available as Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) web map services (WMS), which can be viewed in compatible software or in portal-style websites that use a map-based interface to connect to WMS. These web services allow you to bring the GeoIndex data layers into your own mapping software (GIS systems, etc.) to be viewed and compared alongside your own data and data from other providers.

- Statement
- The British Geological Survey (BGS) has been collecting metadata for oil and gas site surveys since 2009. Oil companies submit their data through the Petroleum Operations Notice (PON) system, submitting a PON 14a survey closeout form and a map showing the extent of the survey activity to BGS, as well as a MEDIN Site Survey Submission Form, providing information about the site survey, including its name, site licence details, equipment used, the licence operator, contractor, and start / end dates.
