  • Temperature measurements were made between 2004 and 2005. The work was carried out at the Clean Air Sector Laboratory (Halley, Antarctica) as part of the CHABLIS project (2001-2006).

  • This dataset includes the PROTECH validation output against a yearlong monitoring study conducted during 2016 in the lake and catchment of Rostherne Mere and the PROTECH output files following changes in internal and external nutrient loads and future climate scenarios based on the UK Climate Projections (UKCP09) data. These data were collected to demonstrate the future possible trajectories of change with alterations in air temperature, internal nutrient loads and external nutrient loads. Validation data is presented as daily model outputs, while all future projection data is presented as collated annual average model output data for each future change scenario. The PROTECH model (Phytoplankton RespOnses To Environmental CHange) simulates the in situ dynamics of phytoplankton in lakes and reservoirs, specialising in predicting phytoplankton species, particularly Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) The work was carried out as part of a Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) funded PhD [grant number NE/L002493/1]. • Ship underway data collected aboard the James Clark Ross during cruise no JR158 in 2007. Includes data from navigation and vessel-mounted ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers). On the ship the position and observed data were interpolated to five-second records to merge the navigation with the underway data. These one-minute averages are averages over 12 of the interpolated points.

  • Meteorological data were collected between Jan and Oct 2005 from a sensor positioned on top of the FAGE container. The dataset lists temperature (degrees C), relative humidity (%), pressure (mB), wind speed (ms-1) and wind direction (degrees). Data were collected at averaged one-minute intervals. This work was carried out at Halley Station, as part of the Chemistry of the Antarctic Boundary Layer and the Interface with Snow (CHABLIS) project (2001-2006).

  • [THIS DATASET HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN]. 1km resolution gridded meteorological variables over Great Britain for the years 1961-2012. This dataset contains time series of daily mean values of air temperature (K), specific humidity (kg kg-1), wind speed (m s-1), downward longwave radiation (W m-2), downward shortwave radiation (W m-2), precipitation (kg m-2 s-1) and air pressure (Pa), plus daily temperature range (K). These are the variables required to run the JULES land surface model [1] with daily disaggregation. The precipitation data were obtained by scaling the Gridded estimates of daily and monthly areal rainfall (CEH-GEAR) daily rainfall estimates [2,3] to the units required for JULES input. Other variables were interpolated from coarser resolution datasets, taking into account topographic information. [1] Best, M. J., Pryor, M., Clark, D. B., Rooney, G. G., Essery, R. L. H., Ménard, C. • Gridded daily meteorological variables over Great Britain for the years 1961-2017 at 1 km resolution. This dataset contains time series of daily mean values of air temperature (K), specific humidity (kg kg-1), wind speed (m s-1), downward longwave radiation (W m-2), downward shortwave radiation (W m-2), precipitation (kg m-2 s-2) and air pressure (Pa), plus daily temperature range (K). These are the variables required to run the JULES land surface model with daily disaggregation. The data are provided in gridded netCDF files. There is one file for each variable for each month of the data set. This data set supersedes the previous version as temporal coverage has been extended to include the years 2016-2017 and the netCDF metadata has been updated and improved. • Temperatures recorded 5cm above the forest floor in a gridded design (1 to 13m distance) within three, 1 hectare forest plots in Sabah, Borneo. The dataset also includes air temperature data from a nearby weather station at the same temporal resolution, and spatially-interpolated measurements of topography and canopy structure in each forest plot at a 1m resolution. iButton temperature measurement 5cm above the forest floor in gridded design (1-13m distance) within three 1-ha forest plots in Sabah, Borneo. Measurements were taken at 20 minute intervals over one continuous month (November 2015). Dataset also includes nearby weather station air temperature data at identical temporal resolution, as well as spatially-interpolated (1-m) measurements of topography and canopy structure in each forest plot. Output of BALI project (NERC funded Human-modified Tropical Forest Programme). Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/17501db1-7a2b-4f4b-8965-f309d2d1c557
