Seasonal average water temperatures for some UK rivers, 1984 to 2007- data are derived from other CEH projects and collated here. The rivers are Afon Gwy, Allt a Mharcaidh, Allt na Coire nan Con, Bere Stream, Bovington Stream, Dargall Lane, Devils Book, Frome, Great Ouse, Hafren, Hooke, Hore, Lambourn, Nant y Gronwen, Narrator Brook, Old Lodge, Pang, Piddle, River Etherow, Sydling Water and Tadnoll. The data consists of estimated hourly average inflow discharge (m3s-1) and water temperature (°C) of the inflow of the inner basin of Elterwater (lat: 54.428, long: -3.034) from January 2012 to December 2019. The work was supported by the Natural Environment Research Council (Grant NE/ L002604/1). Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/2883aaf1-6148-49cb-904a-d271a028c716

This dataset contains hourly water temperature data and hourly air temperature data of an experimental mesocosm facility from 21st April to 7th November 2023. The sixteen mesocosms (1 m deep, 2 m diameter) were filled with water from Windermere. The water temperature was measured every five minutes and an hourly average was calculated. Air temperature was measured by a weather station within the mesocosm compound. The experiment aimed to investigate different N:P nutrient ratios and water temperature was measured as this is an important factor needed to understand the results. This dataset includes sediment trap diatom captures and water column temperature profiles from a PhD research project at Rostherne Mere in Cheshire. These data were collected to show the relationship between climate, especially short-term climatic perturbations, and diatom assemblages. The sediment trap data cover the period from October 2004 to January 2017, while the thermal profiles cover October 2005 to December 2016. Diatom data is presented with date, percentage taxa abundance and diatom fluxes based on total sediment yield. Temperature profiles are presented as mean daily figures. The work was carried out as part of a Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) funded PhD [grant number NE/L002493/1], with the temperature data funded by the UKLEON (UK Lake Ecological Observatory Network) project via a NERC small grant [grant number NE/I007261/1]. A subset of the Loch Leven long-term monitoring project dataset. This subset contains data collected from Loch Leven between 1985 and 2007 at three sampling sites in the lake. It includes results of chlorophyll, phosphorus, and silicon analyses as well as conductivity and water temperature measurements. The data relate to water samples taken at fortnightly or monthly intervals. Data available in digital form is described here. Additional data currently held as hard copy, will become available once digitised. Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/2969776d-0b59-4435-a746-da50b8fd62a3

Physical, chemical and biological data collected from peatland ponds in the Pennines, UK. Ponds sampled include those created during peatland rewetting as well as naturally-formed ponds. Biological data are aquatic invertebrate abundances in ponds, with physical and chemical data measured concurrently.
