  • This data release includes sensor data collected from Conductivity Temperature Depth (CTD) casts during a field campaign to Ryder Bay in January 2025 as part of the NERC funded SiCLING project (Silicon Cycling in Glaciated Environments), led by Dr K. Hendry from the British Antarctic Survey. Four CTD casts were carried out within the Bay. This research aims to investigate the release of biologically important nutrients and trace elements from glacial sediments in polar coastal environments, and the biogeochemical impact of ongoing glacier retreat. Funding: NERC Pushing the Frontiers grant SiCLING (NE/X014819/1).

  • This dataset comprises conductivity, temperature and depth (CTD) casts which were deployed around Rothera Point, Adelaide Island on the West Antarctic Peninsula between November 2023 and February 2024. Data were captured as part of a biodiversity survey on an area to the north of Rothera Research station. Operations were conducted off small boats and casts sampled shallow waters between 10m and 60m in depth. Data comprises parameters such as pressure, salinity, density, turbidity and more in addition to conductivity, temperature and depth. Data were collected by personnel at BAS, funded by the Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Project (AIMP) Runway Project.

  • This data release includes sensor data collected from Conductivity Temperature Depth (CTD) casts during a field campaign to Kongsfjorden in July 2024 as part of the NERC funded SiCLING project (Silicon Cycling in Glaciated Environments), led by Dr. K. Hendry from the British Antarctic Survey. Thirteen CTD casts were carried out in a transect along the fjord. Funding: NERC Pushing the Frontiers grant SiCLING (NE/X014819/1).

  • Conductivity, Temperature and Depth (CTD) profiles were collected in the grounding zone region of Thwaites Glacier Eastern Ice Shelf in January 2020 as part of the International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration MELT project. Using a borehole deployable CTD system (SBE49), 15 profiles were collected over a period of 4 days between January 9th and January 12th to observe the hydrographic structure of the water column. The profiles extended from the ice base (520 dbar) to approximately 5 m above the seabed (575 dbar). Funding was provided by NSFPLR-NERC: Melting at Thwaites grounding zone and its control on sea level (THWAITES-MELT) NE/S006761/1. ***** PLEASE BE ADVISED TO USE VERSION 2.0 DATA ***** The units for the Conductivity column were incorrect in version 1.0 of the dataset. This has been corrected in version 2.0. The version 2.0 dataset can be accessed via the 'Related Data Set Metadata' link below.
