The ISLSCP II dataset contains comprehensive data over the 10 year period from 1986 to 1995, from the International Satellite Land Surface Climatology Project (ISLSCP). This dataset contains: *Albedo *Ecosystem roots *Historic crop land and land cover *Potential vegetation *Continuous vegetation The data are mapped to consistent grids (0.5 x 0.5 degrees for topography, 1 x 1 degrees for meteorological parameters). Some data have a grid size of 0.25 x 0.25 degrees. The temporal resolution for most data sets is monthly (however a few are at finer resolution - 3 hourly). This dataset is public.

The African Easterly Jet (AEJ) is part of a climatic system which is of critical importance to African and global weather and climate, but is poorly observed and not well represented in model analyses. For the JET2000 project the Met Office Met Research flight (MRF) aircraft performed four flights, involving transects along and across the jet and the baroclinic zone, to make observations of unprecedented resolution for this part of the world. 110 dropsondes were dropped along the fight path. The data includes detailed synoptic observations of the basic state over mainland West Africa, and detailed synoptic observations of the African Easterly Waves (AEW) over mainland tropical West Africa.

The Fourier-Adjusted, Sensor and Solar zenith angle corrected, Interpolated, Reconstructed (FASIR) adjusted Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) dataset was detected with the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) on-board the MetOp satellites. Derived biophysical parameter fields were generated to provide a 17-year satellite record of monthly changes in the photosynthetic activity of terrestrial vegetation. This dataset was produced and provided by Dr. Sietse Los from the Department of Geography, University of Wales at Swansea.

This dataset contains standard meteorological data and soil moisture estimates from cosmic-ray neutron sensors taken from Sheepdrove Farm stations (2015-2018). This data was collected as part of the NERC project A MUlti-scale Soil moisture-Evapotranspiration Dynamics study (AMUSED), which aimed to identify the spatial/temporal scale-dependency of key dominant processes that control changes in soil moisture and land-atmosphere interactions.

Infrared radiances from the Limb Infrared Monitor of the Stratosphere (LIMS) instrument, mounted on the Nimbus-7 satellite, were stored on a Radiance Archive Tape (RAT). RAT data was used to derive a series of products, two of which are held here. Firstly, the LIMS Inverted Profile Archival Tape (LAIPAT). This dataset contains mixing ratios of methane and nitrogen dioxide.
