Each species has scans from between 23 and 31 specimens with the exception of chaffinches (Fringilla coelebs), with scans from 230 specimens representing fourteen subspecies. All scans were taken at the Natural History Museum, Akeman Street, Tring. Scans were processed using FlexScan3D and output as ply format files. Linear measurement data (see metadata file) were collected using digital callipers and additional data transcribed from specimen labels.
