Amundsen Sea sector MITgcm/WAVI coupled model output forced with idealised ocean boundary conditions over 180 years
This data set represents the model results plotted in the figures in Bett et al. (2024), produced using the MITgcm/WAVI ice/ocean coupled model. The model domain is the Amundsen Sea sector, where the simulations start in approximately the year 2015 and run for 180 years. Simulations are forced using idealised ocean boundary conditions which represent cold and warm conditions, along with a third extreme case where no ice shelf melting is applied. These simulations were produced in order to examine the ice/ocean processes that occur during future evolution of the region. For full descriptions of the results plotted in each figure see Bett et al. (2024).
Funding was provided by NERC Grant NE/S010475/1, ITGC THWAITES MELT (NE/S006656/1), ITGC THWAITES PROPHET (NE/S006796/1) and the European Union's Horizon 2020 grant PROTECT (869304).

Methodology:
This data was produced using a MITgcm/WAVI coupled model. The version of MITgcm used to produce this data is available at https://github.com/David-Bett4/MITgcm/tree/Coupling_wHoriz_lat_Pchild_new_divout (commit 26ffb9f). The version of WAVI used to produce this data is available at https://github.com/RJArthern/WAVI.jl/tree/MITgcm_coupling (commit 7c292f1).
Grid projection: Rectangular Polar Stereographic grid, latitude of true scale 71S, WGS84 ellipsoid.
The Amundsen Sea sector model setup and processing used to produce these results is described in detail in Bett et al. (2024).
Data collection:
Data processing was done using MATLAB (Version R2020b).
Data quality:
A centred 2 year running average is applied to the ice shelf melting timeseries result files leading these files to have N/A values for the first and last years (see Bett et al. (2024) for more details). In addition, N/A values are located outside of the model domain or where no data is present at that location, for example for ice shelf melt rate maps and ocean potential temperature cross sections. Furthermore N/A values are present where no data is produced from calculations, for example in max subsurface ocean temperatures, pinning point ungrounding times and grounding line retreat rates calculations (see Bett et al. (2024) for more details).
