Earthworms were purchased from a commercial supplier (Blades Biological, Kent, UK). Four test replicates, each containing 10 worms were used per treatment (3 teabag types, each at 4 concentrations: none, 0.02% w/w, 0.04% w/w, 0.06% w/w). Survival and body weight were recorded on days 0 (start) and day 28 of the experiment. At the end of the experiment (28-days) the number of egg cocoons produced were quantified, and then each container was incubated for a further 28-days to examine fecundity, whereby the number and mass of juveniles were quantified.
