Ecotoxicology data of Eisenia fetida earthworms exposed to four concentrations of bio-based teabags

This dataset contains ecotoxicology measurements of Eisenia fetida earthworms exposed to different types of bio-based teabags, at four concentration levels. Variables measured include mortality, growth, reproductive output (number of egg cocoons and juveniles) and were collected over a 28-day period. This research is part of the BIO-PLASTIC-RISK project, funded by Natural Environment Research Council through the grants NE/V007556/1 and NE/V007246/1. Statement
The standard method OECD TG 222 earthworm reproduction test protocol was used; and standard LUFA 2.2 soil (LUFA Speyer, Germany). Earthworms were purchased from a commercial supplier (Blades Biological, Kent, UK). Four test replicates, each containing 10 worms were used per treatment (3 teabag types, each at 4 concentrations: none, 0.02% w/w, 0.04% w/w, 0.06% w/w). Survival and body weight were recorded on days 0 (start) and day 28 of the experiment. At the end of the experiment (28-days) the number of egg cocoons produced were quantified, and then each container was incubated for a further 28-days to examine fecundity, whereby the number and mass of juveniles were quantified.
