Collection of x-ray diffraction films and x-ray diffractograms from the clay fractions extracted from the sedimentary strata of the British Isles.

The C V Jeans collection of x-ray diffraction films and x-ray diffractograms form the basis of my investigations into the clay minerals stratigraphy of the Cretaceous, Jurassis, Permo-Triassic and Old Red Sandstone strata of the British Isles. It covers the period from 1965 to 2006 and involved both my own private research as well as investigations carried out for clients

Supplemental Information
The stratigraphical clay mineralogy is summarised in the Mineralogical Society book "Clay minerals in onshore and offshore strata of the British Isles" (2006). The sections of the Cretaceous and Jurassic of the onshore strata include 2400 new clay mineral analysis; these represent a high proportion of the diffractograms in crates Cretacious I-IV and Jurassic I-V. Other publications containing original clay mineral data from this collection are listed. Hardcopies of the results are held in NGRC.
