Density and susceptibility catalogue of 320 rock samples from northern Victoria Land, East Antarctica
We present a petrophysical catalogue of new density and susceptibility measurements conducted on 320 rock samples from northern Victoria Land, East Antarctica. The rock samples are stored by the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) in Berlin-Spandau and Hanover, Germany.

Methodology:
Susceptibility measurements were conducted by using a handheld KAPPAMETER KM-7 (Pocket Magnetic Susceptibility Meter) hand meter. For each rock sample eight repeat measurements have been performed on different flat and if possible fresh surfaces. Density was measured by using a scale and a bucket of water, where we measured the try rock weight and the volume was established by measuring the weight of the displaced water.
The samples were collected during the GANOVEX missions between 1979-2021.
The columns of the CSV file are described as follows:
* sample_name: Collection identifier.
* latitude_minute: latitude in decimal minutes WGS 84
* longitude_minute: longitude in decimal minutes WGS 84
* latitude: latitude in decimal degrees WGS84
* longitude: longitude in decimal degrees WGS84
* locality: Describes the sample location
* rocktype: Describes the rock type of the sample as classified by the sample collector
* stratigraphy: Describes stratigraphic formation of the sample as classified by the sample collector
* weight: Describes the sample try weight in gram
* volume: Describes the volume established by displaced water of the submerged rock sample in cubic centimetre
* density: Describes the rock density based on weight and volume in gram per cubic centimetre.
* observation_during_measurements: this column contains notes of observations during the measurements such as strong weathering etc.
* susceptibility_1 - susceptibility_8 : Describes the eight repeat susceptibility measurements in 10-3 SI.
* susceptibility_average : Describes the average value of all eight repeat measurements in 10-3 SI.
* susceptibility std : Describes the standard deviation value of all eight repeat measurements in 10-3 SI.
* sample_location: Describes where the rock sample is stored. Either NAPA (National Polar Sample Archive in Berlin-Spandau, Germany) or BGR (Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources, Hannover, Germany)
Data collection:
susceptibility measurement undertaken using a handheld KAPPAMETER KM-7 (Pocket Magnetic Susceptibility Meter)
Data quality:
The KM-7 Magnetic Susceptibility Meter has a sensitivity of 1 x 10-6 SI units (based on the manufacturer). The repeat measurements were undertaken on different surfaces of the rock sample. The spatial variability of the rock sample was quite significant for same samples.
