- Statement
- Twenty-one Caledonian pinewood populations were visited in 2007 and cones collected from 10 trees (known as ‘mother trees’) per population. Phenotypes (including height, DBH, soil depth, competition and altitude) were recorded for each mother tree. The size and weight of cones (10 per mother tree) and seeds (all seeds within each cone: total number of viable seeds, percentage viability and weight of viable seeds) were also recorded.
