- Statement
- Addled and deserted sea eagle eggs are collected by licensed collectors in Scotland. Eggs are cracked, the contents homogenised and samples are 1) sent for analysis by the Centralised Analytical Chemistry facility at CEH Lancaster and 2) retained for archive purposes at -20 degrees C. Samples were analysed for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), organochlorine pesticides or their persistent metabolites, and a range of metals and metaloids. Data are entered by technician onto a MSAccess form which uploads directly to an Oracle database. Batch files containing concentrations of pesticides in tissues load directly to Oracle database.
