JULES was driven with the Watch Forcing Data methodology applied to Era-Interim (WFDEI) meteorological data. Ancillary data used in the simulation are: (1) Van Genuchten soil properties from the Harmonised World Soil Database (HWSD); (2) International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP) land cover data; (3) High-resolution global topographic index values (Marthews, 2015; https://doi.org/10.5285/6b0c4358-2bf3-4924-aa8f-793d468b92be). JULES output was reprojected on to a 2D grid and the natural wetland methane emissions were scaled to give a global total of 180 Tg of methane in 2000 in post processing.
