- Statement
- Data are recorded in minute intervals. Up to January 2016 the data were then averaged hourly, after January 2016 data were averaged half hourly. The hourly or half hourly data was transferred from loggers at the field site onto CEH Bangor's server via a remote telemetry system. Each morning, the previous days data was transferred via telemetry. This dataset combines daily data from temperature and soil moisture sensors in each experimental plot (n=9 plots). Soil temperature is measured at 5 centimetre (cm) and 20 cm soil depth (degrees Celsius). Air temperature is measured 20 cm above the soil surface (degrees Celsius) and soil moisture is measured as soil volumetric water content (m3 per m3). Data were not collected between 9th October 2015 and 3rd November 2015 due to problems with the sensors. Soil and air temperatures are measured with a T107 sensor from Campbell scientific. Soil moisture is measured with CS616 sensors from Campbell scientific. Daily average values were downloaded to csv files for ingestion to the Environmental Information Data Centre. Data were collected from the climate change field site Climoor which is located in the Clocaenog forest, North East Wales. The experimental field site consists of three untreated control plots, three plots where the plant canopy air is artificially warmed during night time hours and three plots where rainfall is excluded from the plots at least during the plants growing season. Warming roofs were in operation from 1st April 2014 - 19th November 2015 and were started again on 6th April 2016. Drought roofs were in operation 7th April - 23rd September 2015. The drought roofs were not in operation in 2016.
