Samples comprised standard size geological thin sections, or, in the case of samples with an MBIO suffix, polished billets. The data document the mineral major- and minor element composition as measured by EDS-SEM in thin section, or, in the case of samples with an MBIO suffix, polished billets. Maps were run with a 20 kV acceleration voltage, a beam current of 2.7 nA, and a dwell time of between 2 and 5 ms. Raw counts were background corrected using Oxford Instruments’ AZtec software, which was then used to export element distributions in the form of x-y-count .txt files.
