- Statement
- Sample equipment types used included: Grab: Amon or Hamon. CEFAS was contracted to undertake the survey on behalf of Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Positions in Lat/Long WGS84 collected by Differential Global Positioning System (D-GPS). Multibeam bathymetry corrected to Chart Datum. Depths recorded for benthic sampling stations were read from ship's echo sounder. The survey collected data from Kongsberg EM2040 multibeam system to derive bathymetry and backscatter products. Acoustic acquisiton software = Kongsberg SIS. Processing software = Caris HIPS. Replacement Motion Reference Unit (MRU) fitted on 13 Feb 2012. Video capture by Kongsberg undewater camera with video and stills capability. Benthic sampling by 0.1 sq m Hamon Grab fitted with video camera. Sediment samples taken for particle size analysis (PSA). Faunal samples washed over 1 mm sieve and preserved in formalin for laboratory analysis. The survey targeted 12 locations in the rMCZ area, six of which were sampled by grab only, four by video only and two by both grab and video.
