Trait values measured on a subset of the Bengal and Assam Aus Panel of rice grown in the field at two levels of nitrogen application in four South Asian sites over at least two seasons
[This dataset is embargoed until May 1, 2026]. The dataset is in csv format recording trait values measured on a subset of the Bengal and Assam Aus Panel (BAAP) of rice grown in the field at two levels of nitrogen application in four South Asian sites over at least two seasons. Traits are leaf nitrogen content (measured with a Soil Plant Analysis Development (SPAD) meter) at 45 and 60 days, days to flowering and at harvest plant height, number of tillers, straw biomass and grain yield. The purpose was to assess members of the BAAP for their response to nitrogen treatment in the field for identification of rice cultivars for high nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) plus quantitative trait loci (QTL) and candidate genes for NUE Full details about this dataset can be found at

- Statement
- Each of four project partners obtained seeds of approximately 300 rice accessions of the BAAP from the International Rice Research Institute and grew them to multiply seed supply. They each used the seed obtained to conducted screens the accessions in two levels of nitrogen application over two years, collected data, entered data into an excel spread sheet, checked it for errors and submitted to a project datasharing site. All the datasets were combined into one.
